Activities
of The World Calendar Association during the first half of last
century followed worldwide study of possible alternatives to the
Gregorian calendar. TWCA supported conclusions that The World
Calendar would likely be the best replacement and considered membership
in the organization to be "based on an active interest
in the study of an adequate and effective improvement of the calendar.”

During
the fifty years since the United Nations indefinitely tabled the
calendar reform topic, more study has not provided a better alternative
to The World Calendar. (Internet technology today allows easy
verification of that statement. Some of the articles
on this site offer comparisons to other
calendar reform ideas.)
TWCA requests
anyone who is interested in more study to do it immediately so
lack of study will not be used later to delay The World Calendar
in 2012. TWCA will consider new information if and as it develops
but otherwise is proceeding towards The World Calendar in 2012.
Like
most any change, calendar reform will happen if enough individuals
decide it should happen and then appropriately make their wishes
known. Few projects have the opportunity to benefit more people
than The World Calendar in 2012 but the key is simultaneous awareness.
The goal and the timeline can come together if
everyone who likes The World Calendar idea
tells others about The World Calendar in 2012.
This
is a way to avoid repetition of criticism at the
United Nations in 1954 which claimed there was no evidence of
substantial majority support for calendar reform. Indeed, technology
simply did not yet exist to allow a majority of people living
at the time to learn about The World
Calendar and voice their opinions about it. Today, near-immediate
reports of national and world news demonstrate how much that has
changed. Today, awareness of calendar reform and growing
support for it can expand as much as required in a short
period of time. Stated differently, this is a realistic
challenge for every individual to play a part in vast worldwide
and long overdue improvement. The very increase in the accumulated
number of MEMBERS can help draw attention to the efforts of individuals
but The World Calendar in 2012 will happen because enough individuals
put aside all doubt and explained the relevance to other individuals.
