1953
SUSTAINED
progress toward the international enactment of calendar reform
was reported at the Seventh Annual Meeting 15 January
1954 of The World Calendar Association,
International, held in the International Building, New York City.
Published highlights (JCR Vol. 24, April 1954) for
CHINA:
In
Formosa (Taiwan), the Chairman of the Chinese Calendar Reform
Committee, Dr. Chu Chia-hua, continues to direct an active propaganda
for The World Calendar. As president of the Chinese Association
for the United Nations, his influence and prestige is highly important.
From the world-wide viewpoint, he suggests in his report, there
is urgent need for more publications on calendar reform. Not enough
has yet been done to acquaint the public with the aim we are heading
for. It seems quite necessary that a series of systematic studies
be made available and translated for international distribution,
in order to remind all peoples that the need for such a reform
is universal and that an improved calendar will benefit everybody.
